A dog’s day out

I know it’s been a while since I posted my projects but rest assured I worked on quite a few πŸ˜€

I’ve made some hats and scarves for my dad, friends and family (including myself), my first Raglan style dress and my first dog pullover. I’ll post soon some of them.

My sister came home for the Holidays with her cute little pup Wasabi and asked me if I can whip up a sweater or pullover for the little one because it gets really cold in the winter and freezes the dog’s little butt over πŸ™‚ So, I did just that. Although it was a first for me, It turned out pretty well, I think. I’ve made a knitted ribbed collar (2×2) for 10 cm or so and then I switched to crochet, worked for a few rounds (HDC),Β  placed markers where the front legs begin, made the holes with the help of the chain stitch then joined for continuing in the round, started decreases to fit the body, worked straight for a few centimeters (I used the “model” as you can see below to check if it fits). I made the back longer and the front shorter for obvious reasons πŸ˜€ and finished with a little strap for the tail. That was it, really easy.Β  Of course it needed testing out on the field so it was a success πŸ™‚ I hope you like it.

Lavender knitted dress with crochet border

Hello, everybody πŸ™‚ This is my latest project inspired by this post. I thought that they would fit together very well, don’t you think so? πŸ˜€

At first I had in mind the crochet border from the bottom of the dress. I did that first and then I used a slightly different version around the neck. I made the rest of the dress around those two elements, knitted in stockinette stitch altered with increases and decreases for a better fit. Voila:

Spider stitch shrugs with a touch of knit

It’s been a while since my last post but only because I’ve been so busy working on this cute projects. I found myself starting nowhere and ending doing two projects at once, actually 3 but that’s another story πŸ™‚ They are really easy and fun to crochet (and knit) and pretty quick also.

The pattern for the spider stitch it’s written bellow:

(multiple of 19+3)

Ch 21, go into the fourth chain from hook and work two rows of double crochet; at the end of each row Ch2 (or Ch3 as you please, counts as Dc) and turn. Next row: 4Dc (a total of 5 Dc), Ch4, skip 1 stitch, 1 TrCr (Treble Crochet), skip 1 stitch, 1TrCr, skip 1 st, 1TrCr, skip 1st, 1TrCr, skip 1 st (you will have 4 TrCr), Ch4, 5Dc at the end of the row, Ch2, turn.

Next 3 rows: 5dc (counting the turning chains), Ch4, Sc in top of each TrCr, Ch4, 5Dc, Ch2, Turn.
Next row: 5Dc, Ch1, TrCr in the first Sc (TrCr in each Sc with Ch1 in between), Ch1, 5Dc, Ch2, turn.

Next two rows: Dc (including the Ch1 spaces).

As an idea how to work these: I’ve used a 5mm hook and a 5 mm circular knitting needle, Ch78, 2 rows of Dc and followed the spider stitch pattern for a length of approx 67 cm and a width of 45 cm. You adjust the dimensions to your shoulder and back measurements. You’ll have a rectangular shaped piece. Next I folded the corners to form the armholes and joinΒ  them with a couple of stitches. Now it’s all up to your imagination and creativity: you can work a knitted ribbed border, or any border you like, you can lengthen the back in the same way I did, work long or short sleeves, the choice is yours. I wanted to use a knitted border because I’ve missed knitting so much I almost forgot how much since I started crocheting!

I hope it makes sense and this is how they look like πŸ™‚

Today is “Purseday”

There are so many cute crochet purse patterns I wouldn’t know where to begin! I found a lovely one here

I made mine a little different

It was easy to do, the only annoying part for me was sewing the fabric on the inside and joining the hexagons (phew!). I also added two motifs from here

Another purse I made was from a youtube pattern

I really love this! Mine turned out something like that:

I also created a very simple one, this time knitted flat in garter stitch, then folded to create the flap, added a knitted flower, button, beaded strap, and fabric on the inside and that was it.

That’s it for my “Purseday”, hope you enjoyed it πŸ™‚
